"A theatre goer since I was 2,
I am now 26, I can not recall being as moved in so many directions
as I was while watching Wicked."
- Matt B.
"If I could pick where I had
to die, It would be at a performance of Wicked. If I could pick
the last words that I heard, It would be the last note of the song
"Defying Gravity." This show is utterly amazing!"
- Jen M.
"Wicked is a musical that does
best what musicals are supposed to do: transport the audience beyond
the world they know. Whether you dream of being Galinda/Glinda,
the toast of society, or Elphaba, the beautifully misinterpreted
outcast, Oz inspires you. What more is theater for?"
- Hols F.
"Wicked did it all for me. Wit,
charm, excitement, romance, surprises, it's all there. If you're
going to see a show in New York, see Wicked."
- John H.

Academy of Music Information
Philadelphia's Academy of Music is both a celebrated historical landmark and a current focus of cultural life in the city. Opened in 1857, the Academy is the oldest grand opera house in the United States still used for its original purpose. It remains one of the busiest halls in the world and hosts a myriad of community functions and cultural activities, including performances by the Opera Company of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Ballet and Philly Pops with Peter Nero. The Academy is owned by The Philadelphia Orchestra Association and is managed by The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.
The main hall (capacity 2,897) is constantly in use for concerts, operas, ballets, and other events. The Ballroom (capacity 350), was inspired by the design of the Hall of mirrors at Versailles. Tours of the Academy are available and schedules may be obtained by contacting the manager's office.
The Academy of Music is a historic and grand Opera House. While its beauty is renowned, there are poles that exist as supports and may cause some obstructions in select seats. These seats will not be sold to you without your knowledge or consent. We have broken these seats into several categories:
- Limited View Column: A physical limitation like a column or rail may limit the view of the stage from these seats.
- Limited View: These seats are a side or angled view and part of the stage may not be visible.
- Limited Comfort: A physical limitation makes sitting in these seats physically uncomfortable for SOME people due to limited legroom.
- Limited Comfort, Column: A physical limitation like a column or rail may limit your view of the stage from these seats and makes sitting in these seats physically uncomfortable for SOME people due to limited legroom.
- The Academy of Music welcomes patrons with disabilities and is wheelchair accessible. Please call 215-731-3333 for special assistance with wheelchair seating
